The clinic's chief physician, Dr. Kalaaji, is interviewed by the women's magazine Henne, November 2013, regarding the increased demand for intimate surgery.
Dr. A. Kalaaji is a plastic surgeon at Oslo Plastikkirurgi. On their website, they advertise figure shaping of the mons veneris, surgery of the labia minora and labia majora, as well as clitoral lifts.
- You create designer vaginas?
- We don't believe in designer vaginas, there are so many variations of a vagina, and most of them are normal. The most important thing is what the woman feels. This is about self-confidence and harmony. We are not changing normal genitalia. We are changing an existing abnormality. 70 percent of the women who visit the clinic are in stable relationships and in most cases have had children.
- Do you think the demand is created by the media?
- We can't blame the media for the increase in such procedures, as these problems have existed for a long time. People have thought about it, but now they have the opportunity and can afford to do it. This is external intimate surgery. A couple of years ago we only had a couple of surgeries a month, but now we have one to two a week," says Dr. A. Kalaaji
