1. Dr. Kalaaji gave a lecture on ALCL (anaplastic large cell lymphoma, ALCL), which is the term for a type of cancer that is possibly related to inserted breast implants.
It should be noted that this is very rare and therefore women are not recommended to remove the implants, nor are new women discouraged from having breast implants inserted.
2. As head of the Norwegian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (NFEP), Dr. Kalaaji has been at the forefront of developing a breast implant register here in Norway, as they have in Sweden and Finland, for example.
He spoke about the meetings the association has had with countries that have developed this register and received good tips on how it can be implemented. NFEP is continuing to work on creating such a register.
