Dr. Kalaaji was invited to give a lecture at Oslo Chirurgiske Sælskab

Oslo Chirurgiske Sælskap is a student association at the University of Oslo. The association was founded in 2014 and aims to promote interest in and knowledge of surgery among medical students.

Dr. Kalaaji started by telling us a little about plastic surgery and the professional life of a plastic surgeon.

The topic of the lecture was intimate surgery. He talked about which patient groups want intimate surgery and why. He went through how it is decided which patients are offered surgery and which are turned down because there is no indication for surgical treatment. He presented his research, based on 125 anonymously interviewed patients who responded to a survey on quality of life before and after such surgery.

The lecture was concluded with questions from the audience. Dr. Kalaaji has been a mentor for medical students at UiO for many years.
