Oslo Plastikkirurgi turns 20 years old - Hip Hooray!

Thank you to all our patients, it is an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to help you. We want to celebrate this with our old as well as new patients!

We celebrate this with our old as well as new patients. Oslo Plastic Surgery first opened its doors in 2002 with Dr. Kalaaji at the helm. The clinic moved to Inkognitogata in Frogner in 2005.

Oslo Plastic Surgery offers high-quality treatments and individualized care in plastic and aesthetic surgery. This includes breast surgery, fat grafting, correction of inverted nipples (where we have developed a technique that preserves breastfeeding function), rhinoplasty, BBL buttock augmentation with own fat, intimate surgery, the face and Mommy Makeover to name a few of our treatments.

We constantly keep abreast of developments in the field internationally so that we can offer new procedures in a responsible manner.

Through various publications of professional articles that we have developed, we have gained international recognition in the form of frequent faculty meeting invitations all over the world to share our experiences. We have developed new methods for, among other things, fat grafting to the breasts, hybrid treatment, i.e. combined method such as fat and silicone together in the breasts, BBL, nose, intimate surgery and Mommy Makeover. This has already been published in a book on Plastic and Aesthetic Regenerative Surgery and Fat Grafting. Clinical Application and Operative Techniques, published by Springer Nature, where our senior consultant, Dr. Amin Kalaaji, was editor-in-chief of the book. Dr. Kalaaji has been in the media a lot with statements on current affairs.

Dr. Kalaaji was chairman of the Norwegian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (NFEP) 2018-2020. In addition, Dr. Kalaaji is an active member of the Swedish Society of Plastic Surgery (SPKF), Nordic Society of Plastic Surgery, International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and International Society of Plastic and Regenerative Surgery (ISPRES). He has previously been a senior consultant at the Department of Plastic Surgery at Telemark Central Hospital and head of section/acting head of department at the Department of Plastic Surgery at Ullevål, Oslo University Hospital.

These engagements and positions Dr. Kalaaji participates in are a result of the work at Oslo Plastic Surgery and are a recognition of the operation and innovation of the clinic. This ensures that we are always up to date with the latest treatments, patient safety and surgical techniques.

Some of the treatments that the clinic has distinguished itself by developing are breast augmentation with fat, the hybrid method, inverted nipples (own technique), BBL, rhinoplasty and intimate surgery, fat grafting especially in the face, Breast and body.

We've had a brilliant start to 2022 and we've had the pleasure of welcoming both familiar and new patients despite the restrictions we've all faced. We are now looking forward to exciting and active years ahead.

In this context, we will therefore present some of our previous news from the start-up of the clinic.

A big thank you to all our patients and past and present staff who have been with us on this journey and congratulations to Oslo Plastikkirurgi on 20 years.

THE CLINIC'S CHIEF PHYSICIAN DR. KALAAJI IN AN INTERVIEW WITH AFTENPOSTEN VITENSKAP ABOUT THE BUTTOCK ENLARGEMENT TREND

"The number of patients coming to us to get a nicer buttocks has exploded in recent years," says senior consultant Dr. med. and specialist in plastic surgery Amin Kalaaji at Oslo Plastikkirurgi to Aftenposten Vitenskap.

"There's only a small number of people who want a balloon butt ala Kardashian," he says. "These people usually don't know what it's all about and they're not the right candidates for a buttock augmentation. A balloon bum is a very unrealistic and unattractive result, and that's what I tell them when I turn them down."

Dr. Kalaaji believes there is a big misunderstanding when it comes to what is shown in the media. Images of Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj, among others, give young people false expectations. Sometimes these images are manipulated and completely unrealistic. Dr. Amin Kalaaji says it's important to be aware that people from different parts of the world have different body shapes. For example, Latin Americans have a different physique than Scandinavians, Asians or Africans.

"For us, it's all about shaping the buttocks, hips, stomach, thighs and moderately increasing the size of the butt itself," he says.

"The buttocks must be in proportion to the rest of the body. A trend we've seen over the past three years is that people want to move the fat on their body from one part to another to get better proportions. Previously, people came to get rid of fat on their body, now they're putting it back into their own body, which I think is positive."

He says they also often do surgeries where people have a congenital asymmetry, completely flat buttocks or injuries that they can repair.

IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED

"Buttock augmentation is a delicate procedure surgery with a high risk of complications if not performed by qualified personnel," warns the experienced surgeon. He explains that implants have been used in Norway in the past, but have been shown to cause significant complications such as rejection and infections in almost 40% of cases.

"Implants can also look very alien. So we've never inserted them and we never will. The worst are those who use liquid material to inject into the buttocks. This is done abroad even by those who are not plastic surgeons."

He strongly advises against injecting foreign material into the buttocks and says that they have seen cases where silicone has been injected in the past and it has been almost impossible to remove. "Then you have to do a proper surgery and cut away and it leaves a lot of scars," he says.

NEVER HAPPENED IN NORWAY

"But we also have to say this openly, there have been many deaths after such surgeries with own fat, even those performed by qualified doctors," says Dr. Kalaaji.

He explains that the common feature of these is that the fat has been injected too deeply into the muscle so that it has followed the blood and formed a blood clot, which has eventually lodged in the lung. Fortunately, this has never happened in Norway, but it has happened in the USA and England, for example. The deaths are now under investigation.

"That's why in our clinic we are always very careful and reduce the risk to a minimum by using special techniques and staying away from risk areas and also not injecting such large amounts of fat," says Amin Kalaaji.

OSLO PLASTIC SURGERY NOW INTRODUCES REDUCTION OF THE INTROITUS (VAGINAL OPENING)/VAGINOPLASTY

Some women will notice that their vaginal entrance has widened with age or after childbirth. This can cause problems in intimate situations. We now offer a natural and long-lasting solution to the problem by injecting small amounts of your own fat at the vaginal entrance.

Some women will find that as they get older or after childbirth, the entrance to the vagina is enlarged, which can cause practical problems in intimate situations. There are options to tighten the entrance and the outer part of the vagina and this has become more and more common recently. Some clinics offer laser treatment, but little is known about the long-term side effects. On the other hand, it is possible to build up the wall inside the entrance to the vagina with fat grafting, or to use a method that tightens the mucous membrane and muscle itself. You must first undergo a thorough assessment to see if this will provide a definite improvement for you.

NANOFAT TO IMPROVE HAIR GROWTH NOW COMES WITH NEW TREATMENT OPTION

Oslo Plastic Surgery is now offering a new treatment option for those with reduced hair production or who have recently undergone a hair transplant. The treatment involves injecting nano fat into the scalp. Nanofat has regenerative properties that improve blood circulation and create better conditions for hair follicle growth.

The fat is taken from your own body through special needles. This is done under local anesthesia and sedation. The fat is treated in a special way before it is injected with a cannula (so-called Coleman's technique) in the desired area.

It is assumed that you have areas from which you can extract fat to move to the desired area. The amount of fat depends on the volume of the area you want to correct. For the most part, it's about relatively small amounts of fat. Usually the fat integrates (grows) well in the receiving area, but you have to assume that the body absorbs (sucks) approx. 30%} of the amount of fat in the first few months (somewhat less in the head region), so you fill in a little more than you need to compensate for this.

VG interviews us!

Read this great and nuanced post our plastic surgeon participated in at VG regarding the so-called double chin!

Dr. A. Kalaaji, along with other experts in his field, speaks out about the double chin.

Double chin can be annoying for many people. But is it possible to get rid of it? Here's the experts' advice on how you can take action;

- What do you think is the best and most effective way to get rid of a double chin?

- There is no magic solution. You first need to find out what's causing it, whether it's hereditary, genetic or age-related. If you are overweight, you must first stabilize your weight. This can also help in some cases, even if the double chin is hereditary.

- There's a lot of ignorance around this topic, many people think the only solution is plastic surgery, but it's not something you can just "drop in" for. Before you take that step, you need to be assessed by a specialist. Surgery is the last step in the sequence," says Amin Kalaaji.

Instagram face is the new trend, writes Dagens næringsliv.

The insta-face is young, with flawless skin, cat-like eyes and long thick lashes.

Dr. Kalaaji was interviewed by Dagens næringsliv about the increased demand for cosmetic surgery. "Ethics must be present before operating on healthy bodies," he says. Patients are entitled to a doctor who gives them realistic expectations."
